When do I need to see a physio?

From time to time, everyone gets injured. Whether they are caused by an incident on the football field, a slip on a wet footpath or just bending over to tie your shoes, every now and then our bodies fail on us and often people are left feeling lost, sore and in need of guidance.

So where do you go for help? Dr Google and social media are a never-ending rabbit hole of information, but the issue is that the advice there is often general and not specific to you, your body or your lifestyle.

A person who can guide you back to your strongest, healthiest self is a Physiotherapist. Physiotherapists are experts in the structure of the human body and its movement. At Sports Physio Ulladulla, we treat individuals of all ages and activity levels, so whether you are climbing the ladder of elite sport, someone who’s job relies on a strong and healthy body, or just someone wants to get through their day feeling fit and pain-free, we are here to help you achieve those goals.

Physiotherapists can be your first point of contact following an acute injury, as we have the ability to do a thorough assessment and refer for further investigation (x-ray, CT or MRI) where needed. However physiotherapists can also be utilised if you have needed to modify your training for continuous sessions due to an existing injury or niggle, or even if you can complete full training but your pain isn’t changing. The chart below can be followed to give you an idea for when a visit to the physio might be needed:

After a thorough assessment, our physios can help you make a plan to get you back to your activity, whatever that means to you. Whether it is activity modification, tweaks to your technique or education on appropriately monitoring your niggles, your physiotherapist will guide you in the right direction. You do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist so if you are feeling like your body is holding you back from achieving your goals, give us a call on 4454 5898 and we will help you get back on track.
